Introduction

The judicial branch – The Supreme Court

The judicial branch of the U.S. government is headed by the Supreme Court, which is the highest court in the land. It consists of nine justices, who are appointed by the President and confirmed by the Senate. The Supreme Court’s primary role is to interpret the laws and ensure their constitutionality.

The Supreme Court has the power of judicial review, which means it can declare laws or executive actions as unconstitutional. This power gives the court a significant role in shaping the U.S. government and protecting the rights of its citizens.
